Community Development and Engagement
At AOCV, we know that a strong community is built on meaningful connections, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging. Our community development and engagement programs are all about creating spaces where people can come together, support one another, and celebrate what makes us unique.
• Inclusive Community Events:
We love bringing people together. Whether it’s a sunny afternoon picnic, a lively sports tournament, or an educational workshop, our events are designed to create joy and connection. These gatherings aren’t just about fun (though there’s plenty of that!); they’re about building friendships, sharing stories, and creating memories that last. We make sure there’s something for everyone; kids, families, young adults, and elders; so that no one feels left out.
• Building Unity:
At AOCV, we cherish our Oromo roots while embracing the diverse society we live in. We create spaces where Oromo Australians can connect with each other, celebrate their culture, and feel a sense of pride in who they are. At the same time, we open our doors to the wider community, encouraging cultural exchange and understanding. It’s about building bridges; within our community and beyond.
Through these efforts, we hope everyone feels they’re part of something bigger; a community that cares, supports, and celebrates together. Because when we connect, we thrive.
